Troubleshooting

Common activation issues

QR code won't scan

Make sure your camera is focused and the QR code is well-lit. Try entering the activation details manually instead.

Profile download fails

Check your Wi-Fi connection. Restart your phone and try again. If the QR code is single-use and was already scanned, contact your provider for a new one.

No network after activation

Confirm the eSIM is set as your active data line. Toggle Airplane Mode on and off. Make sure Data Roaming is enabled for the travel eSIM.

'Carrier-locked' error

Your phone is locked to a carrier. Contact your carrier to request an unlock before using a travel eSIM.

FAQ

Activation FAQ

eSIM activation takes under 2 minutes on most phones. The QR code scan is instant, and the profile downloads in 10-30 seconds over Wi-Fi. The eSIM connects to local networks within seconds of arriving at your destination.

Install the eSIM before you fly while on home Wi-Fi. The eSIM will not start using data until you arrive and connect to a local network. Installing early avoids relying on airport Wi-Fi.

Check three things: 1) Your phone is carrier-unlocked. 2) You have a stable internet connection. 3) Airplane mode is off. If it still fails, restart your phone and try again. Contact your provider's support as a last resort.

Yes. You need an internet connection to download the eSIM profile. Wi-Fi is recommended. You can also use mobile data from your existing SIM, but Wi-Fi is more reliable.

Some providers (Airalo, Saily) support direct in-app activation without scanning a QR code. You can also manually enter the activation details (SM-DP+ address and activation code) instead of scanning.
