esim-vs-google-fi
Travel eSIM providers offer data in 150-200 countries from $3.00/GB. Google Fi covers 200+ countries at $10/GB after the plan limit. eSIM providers cost less for short trips. Google Fi works better for US residents who want one plan at home and abroad. HelloRoam scores 8.6/10 in our comparison matrix.
esim-for-apple-watch
Apple Watch Series 3 and later support eSIM for cellular connectivity. Travel eSIM providers do not support Apple Watch directly. Apple Watch eSIM requires a carrier plan (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, EE, Vodafone). Number sharing with your iPhone plan costs $5-10/month.
esim-not-working
eSIM not working: 1) enable data roaming in settings, 2) verify your device supports eSIM (iPhone XS or later, most 2020+ Android phones), 3) check carrier coverage in your area, 4) toggle airplane mode on and off, 5) reset network settings. Contact your eSIM provider if activation fails.
About us
About eSIM Comparisons
An independent comparison site built to help travelers choose the right eSIM provider. No sponsored placements. No pay-to-rank. Just data.
What we do
eSIM Comparisons puts the five leading travel eSIM providers side by side: HelloRoam, Airalo, Holafly, Saily, and Nomad. We compare them on ten weighted dimensions including coverage, pricing, speed, app quality, customer support, and refund policies.
Every comparison is built from the same framework. We verify prices manually against provider websites, test activation across iPhone, Samsung, and Pixel devices, and stamp every number with the month it was checked. When a provider improves or a price drops, our rankings update.
Our methodology
We score each provider across five equal-weight dimensions on a 1-5 scale:
- Coverage Breadth (20%) — Number of countries, network quality, regional plans
- Pricing Tiers (20%) — Per-GB cost, daily rates, plan size options
- Speed Consistency (20%) — Real-world network speeds, 4G/5G availability
- App Features (20%) — Store ratings, activation flow, data tracking
- Support Channels (20%) — Channel availability, response time, resolution quality
The overall score is a weighted average. Scores are recalculated when we verify new data. We do not adjust scores based on commercial relationships.
How we make money
We use affiliate links to provider websites. When you click through and purchase a plan, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate relationships never affect rankings. A provider cannot pay for a higher score or better placement. Rankings are determined solely by our methodology.
We disclose affiliate links with rel="sponsored" tags and clear labeling. If a provider is not an affiliate partner, we still include and rank them fairly.
Editorial independence
We are not owned by, affiliated with, or endorsed by any of the providers we review. We do not resell plans. We do not accept free products, press access, or sponsored content that would influence our rankings. Every plan we test is purchased at full retail price.
