- Unlimited plans from $5 for short stays, scaling by duration
- iOS and Android app with in-app top-up, add-destination, and usage alerts
- Live chat, WhatsApp, and email support, including real-time channels

Cons
- Newer brand (launched August 2025) with shorter track record

Airalo -- Widest Coverage Catalogue
Airalo is the matrix default for Afghanistan, pricing the Roshan-routed ladder from $8.10 for 1GB to $102.90 for 20GB, a $5.15/GB floor that sits above Airalo's own general $4.50/GB rate card. Airalo's 4.9/5 in our comparison matrix Coverage score reflects its 200+ country footprint rather than Afghanistan specifically, where the single-carrier setup limits how much any provider can differentiate on network reach.
Dimension scores, 0-5 on our rubric
Pros
- 200+ countries with the widest coverage breadth in the market
- Regional multi-country bundles (Asialink, Eurolink, Discover Global)
- Automatic in-app install with real-time data tracking and hourly runtime estimates
- Airmoney cashback rewards (5-10% depending on loyalty tier)
- Established brand since 2019 with proven reliability
Cons
- Per-GB pricing higher than budget alternatives
- Unlimited plans available in select markets only, not all 200+ destinations
- No live chat or WhatsApp channel: support runs on email and in-app messaging
Holafly -- Best Unlimited Daily Rate
Holafly's $2.99/day unlimited rate undercuts Afghanistan's own $12.43/day unlimited floor by $9.44, a wide gap for a traveler planning a longer Kabul or Herat stay. HelloRoam also sells unlimited from $5. The Holafly tradeoff is a 1GB/day hotspot cap, a real constraint given Roshan's already limited 4G reach outside major cities.
Dimension scores, 0-5 on our rubric
Pros
- Unlimited daily data from $2.99/day with no data caps
- 160+ countries covered including all major destinations
- Simple per-day pricing: know exactly what you pay before you leave
- 180-day refund policy on unused plans
- 24/7 chat support alongside email
Cons
- Speeds reduce after the daily fair use threshold on most plans
- Hotspot tethering limited to 1 GB/day on select destinations
- Not cost-effective for light data users (under 3 GB/trip)
- Fewer countries than Airalo
Saily -- Best for Privacy
Saily bundles NordVPN into every Afghanistan plan at its general $3.99/GB rate, undercutting the country's $5.15/GB local floor. Afghanistan's network-level VPN restrictions mean that bundled protection may not connect the same way it does in an open market, worth weighing against Saily's 4.0/5 on the rubric Coverage score.
Dimension scores, 0-5 on our rubric
Pros
- Backed by NordVPN parent company Nord Security with proven privacy infrastructure
- Integrated VPN protection included on every plan at no extra cost
- Clean, privacy-focused app with VPN toggle inside the eSIM interface
- 200 countries with strong European coverage
- 30-day refund policy
Cons
- Email-only support with no live chat or WhatsApp for urgent help
- Fixed data plans only; no unlimited daily tier
- 200 countries, just behind Airalo's 200-plus
Nomad -- Best Budget Per-GB Rate
Nomad's general $3.00/GB rate card sits well under Afghanistan's $5.15/GB local floor, the widest gap of any provider in this five-way matrix. Nomad's usual budget position carries over here, though its 3.9/5 on the rubric Coverage score is the lowest in the comparison, worth weighing against Roshan's already thin rural signal.
Dimension scores, 0-5 on our rubric
Pros
- Competitive pricing starting from $3.00/GB in Southeast Asia
- Simple, fast checkout with no account required in many cases
- Lowest per-GB rates for Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea, and Japan

- Basic app compared to Airalo and Saily
- 200 countries, behind only Airalo among the five providers
- Limited plan variety in some countries

FAQ
Afghanistan eSIM questions, answered
Which provider has the best coverage in Afghanistan?
Which provider has the best coverage in Afghanistan?
HelloRoam leads the 2026 composite at 4.64/5 in our comparison matrix for Afghanistan. Airalo leads coverage 4.9 vs HelloRoam's 4.5. Every provider in this matrix routes Afghanistan data through the same carrier, Roshan, so coverage does not vary by provider the way it does in multi-carrier markets. Roshan's 4G LTE signal holds in Kabul and Herat, then narrows outside major cities, a limitation that applies equally across HelloRoam, Airalo, Holafly, Saily, and Nomad.
How do eSIM speeds compare in Afghanistan?
How do eSIM speeds compare in Afghanistan?
Afghanistan runs on 4G LTE only, since Roshan has not deployed 5G on this matrix, and every provider compared delivers the same network generation. Speed differences between HelloRoam, Airalo, Holafly, Saily, and Nomad come down to routing and app efficiency rather than network tier, since all five share the same single-carrier ceiling.
Which eSIM has the cheapest per-GB rate for Afghanistan?
Which eSIM has the cheapest per-GB rate for Afghanistan?
Afghanistan's local per-GB floor sits at $5.15, above every general per-GB rate card in this matrix. Nomad comes closest at $3.00/GB, followed by HelloRoam at $3.50/GB, Saily at $3.99/GB, and Airalo at $4.50/GB, all cheaper than Afghanistan's own floor once a traveler buys the largest available plan.
Does HelloRoam or Airalo score higher for Afghanistan?
Does HelloRoam or Airalo score higher for Afghanistan?
HelloRoam scores 4.64 composite vs Airalo 4.45. Airalo leads coverage 4.9 vs 4.5, built on its 200+ country footprint, though that reach does not change Afghanistan's single-carrier reality. HelloRoam leads App 5.0 vs Airalo 4.7 and prices a tighter $3.50/GB rate against Airalo's $4.50/GB, a $1.00/GB gap that favors HelloRoam on price.
Which Afghanistan eSIM includes VPN protection?
Which Afghanistan eSIM includes VPN protection?
Saily bundles NordVPN into every Afghanistan plan at $3.99/GB, the only provider in this five-way matrix with VPN built in. Afghanistan restricts VPN traffic at the network level, so that bundled protection may not connect as reliably here as it does in open markets like Albania.
What is the cheapest unlimited eSIM for Afghanistan?
What is the cheapest unlimited eSIM for Afghanistan?
Holafly prices unlimited Afghanistan data from $2.99/day, undercutting the country's own $12.43/day unlimited floor by $9.44, the widest gap in this three-country comparison. HelloRoam also sells unlimited from $5. The Holafly tradeoff is a 1GB/day hotspot cap, a real limit given Roshan's 4G-only network and thin coverage outside Kabul and Herat.
Which carrier do Afghanistan eSIM providers route through?
Which carrier do Afghanistan eSIM providers route through?
All five providers in this matrix, HelloRoam, Airalo, Holafly, Saily, and Nomad, route Afghanistan data through Roshan, the country's only network carrying eSIM traffic on 4G LTE. That single-carrier setup means provider choice affects price and plan size in Afghanistan, not network reach or routing quality.
